Amstelland International School opened its doors in the municipality of Amstelveen in October 2019. The school, which delivers an international education, puts children’s development at the forefront, helping them grow into responsible world citizens. After getting off to a sprightly start, the school soon began to look for an after school childcare provider with the same philosophy and values as the school itself. And UniKidz fit the bill perfectly.

Ten years ago, UniKidz’s first childcare facility, offering after school care, opened in the IJburg area of Amsterdam. More branches have since opened across the city. UniKidz has a unique concept, based on a varied activity programme allowing children to discover their talents – an approach that fits perfectly with Amstelland International School.

Now, Amstelland International School and UniKidz are proud to announce a new partnership: UniKidz Amstelveen.

Amstelland International School is part of the Onderwijsgroep Amstelland foundation. This education group brings together twelve high-performing schools for special education in Amstelveen and nearby Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. At Amstelland International School, children from families who have come to Amstelveen from all over the world receive an international education. They are inspired to think creatively and are challenged to approach the world around them with curiosity and take charge of their own development.

UniKidz is renowned for providing bilingual childcare in accordance with the UniKidz International method. The new location in Amstelveen offers after school care for children aged 4 to 13, in four basic groups of up to 22 to 24 children per group. The programme ties in with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) that Amstelland International School has adopted.

UniKidz offers activity blocks in four development areas: FitKidz (sport and exercise), MindKidz (development and education), SoulKidz (with heart and soul), and SkillsKidz (making and creating). All activities within the childcare package are all-inclusive, so there is nothing extra to pay.

UniKidz children have the opportunity to enjoy swimming, judo, boxing, basketball, horse-riding, mountain biking, making things in the STEAM Makerspace (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics), dancing, sport, theatre, circus, cooking, ballet, making music, and much more. Children can choose a new activity programme every ten weeks. Scoolz is the UniKidz label for care aimed at children from 10 years. For groups 7 and 8, Scoolz Junior provides tutors or other help with homework. But in between all that hard work, the kids can chill out in the Scoolz lounge.

UniKidz Amstelveen opens in autumn 2020 and is located at Amstelland International School. Children from other local schools are also welcome.
