At UniKidz, we believe that every child deserves to feel seen, heard and welcome. Language plays an important role in making that happen. For many children, their world includes not just one language, but several. The language they speak at home with their parents, grandparents or family is part of who they are. That is why UniKidz is officially certified as Language-Friendly Childcare. This means that we see multilingualism as a strength and that all languages are welcome in our childcare environment.

Language is about more than words alone. Through language, children share memories, stories, traditions and feelings. A child’s home language is closely connected to their identity, family and background. When children experience that their language is valued and welcomed, they are more likely to feel safe, confident and involved. Together with parents

We believe that parents play an essential role in their child’s development. That is why we encourage parents to continue speaking their own language at home. A strong foundation in a child’s home language also supports the learning of other languages, including Dutch.

We also regularly organise activities where parents can share their language, culture, stories or traditions. Together, we create an environment where every family feels welcome.
